Why You Should Get More Exercise
Everyone knows that exercise is vital. But we need to understand WHY, so that we would be more excited about getting off the couch and going to the gym or working out at home. Most people think exercise is just good for losing weight or building abs, but it’s not true – exercise has so many other benefits. This is a simple outline of what happens in your body when you work out, as we list out and explain 7 awesome benefits that can be enjoyed from getting ample exercise:
1) Good Posture
Few things are more satisfying than a good posture, and one of the best ways to maintain a great posture is to exercise your back m
uscles. A lot of posture problems can be fixed if more people take out time to work out and flex the muscles in their backs. Getting regular exercise for your abs and other muscles can help fix both your standing and sitting posture.
2) Bye-Bye Stress
With the unfriendly economy these days and the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, stress is a common problem that we all face. It can affect you mentally and make your body feel tired. However, studies have shown that exercise is a great way to fight stress. Endorphins are secreted when you exercise, and these natural stress-fighters help to restore a calmer state and take your mind off the issues that bother you.
3) Great Sleep
You guessed right; exercise can help you sleep better. An ideal time to work out is early in the morning or afternoon. However, refrain from doing exercises close to your bedtime, as it may prevent you from falling asleep!
4) More Energy
Working out may drain some of your strength a bit, but exercising frequently will leave you feeling super energized and active for the entire day. Doing simple workouts in the afternoon will leave you feeling refreshed and more productive for the day. You’ll find that you feel stronger and more refreshed.
5) A Happier You
Remember endorphins that are produced when you get some good exercise? Well, apart from fighting against stress, they induce what is called a “runner’s high” that lead to a happier version of yourself. This means that consistent exercise can improve your life in significant ways. You just need to develop a habit of exercise and fit a simple workout into your daily routine.
A Simple 7-minute Exercise
This simple exercise plan involves 12 exercises that can be comparable to going on a long run or having a weight-training session. This technique is called Interval Training, where exercises are done at intervals to get the utmost benefits. However, there must be brief periods of rest between each exercise.
You can do these workouts in the comfort of your home; and you should have a timer or stopwatch beside you, to accurately record the time spent on each exercise.

Steps
- You must follow the order provided, starting from Jumping Jacks to Side Plank.
- Each of the 12 exercises must be done for 30 seconds in rapid succession, bringing the total exercise time to 7 minutes.
- Once you’re through with the first workout, rest for 10 seconds before proceeding to the next one. This rest time is a period of recovery which is a necessary so that the unexercised muscles catch their breath.
- The entire duration of the workouts may be a bit challenging and uncomfortable, and you may feel like quitting midway. However, to get the maximum effect, you must try to complete the entire thing.
After 7 minutes, you can rest for a while to catch your breath. Then take a cold shower to rinse the sweat off your body, and you’re good to go!
